In the process of split-testing my affiliate links for their click-through rates, within the web directory, it solidified an already genuine concept in my mind. The original idea that now has further “steam” is this:

Basically what is meant is to establish respect for yourself, online, by providing useful and informative information to possible customers, business associates and website visitors. An excellent way to do this online is Yahoo Answers. This web directory is a place that Yahoo created for online citizens to come and post/find answers to any question that they may have.

How can THIS be used to help YOU out is what you’re probably wondering. Okay, here goes…

Let’s take an example of an affiliate product, say, a kick-butt website creation product that is free to the user. Once you have this product, or a similar one, you could then go to the Yahoo Answers site and do a search of related questions. Once you found a question that has yet to have an answer posted for it, it then becomes a matter of structuring your response to the question.

Ideally your response to a question on Yahoo Answers should contain, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Relevant Information
  • Original Content
  • Personality
  • Honesty

With this mixture of content, your response has a better chance of getting noticed on Yahoo Answers. What this will do for you is gain you noteriety as an expert in whatever particular niche that you’re targeting. Yahoo offers a points system rewarding users of its website for participation in . The higher the points, the more active a given user has been on the system.

Have more than one Yahoo account? You might want to think about the creation of niche-specific user names to log in to Yahoo Answers with. A niche specific user name on Yahoo Answers would be an excellent way to foster further interaction and questions related to your specific niche. More interaction and happy followers equals  more notoriety and possible customers!
